A Day in Fredericton Junction With the Ignite Marketing Team

When it comes to creating a welcoming community, the Village of Fredericton Junction is certainly on the right track. Last week the team took part in Fredericton Junction’s Come Home Week. This week-long community celebration featured dozens of events for all ages, bringing together the entire community for fun activities, crafts, parades, and more.

We started off with lunch at the Sunbury Diner, a spacious local hotspot that offers all your classic diner favourites. Their Come Home Week contribution was offering a special “Poutine Week” menu, which we could not resist trying.

What better way to work off a big lunch than with bowling? We headed over to the Tri-County Complex for their “All You Can Bowl” event as part of the Come Home Week celebrations. I wish I could say Ashleigh and I competed for the spot of top bowler in Fredericton Junction, but the reality is that we hit the gutter more times than we hit the pins. We’ll just count that as practice for our next bowling match.

We then went to learn about some local history at the Currie House Museum. Built in 1900, this historic home preserves snapshots of local history. Each room is packed with artifacts waiting for their stories to be told. One of the featured displays pays homage to Come Home Week with a quilt of hand-stitched local landmarks and memorabilia dating back to the first Come Home Week in 1973.

Overall it was a beautiful day to spend in Fredericton Junction, driving through the charming community and even stopping to watch the train go by. Although we couldn’t take in all of the many activities that Come Home Week had to offer, it was wonderful to see people of all ages come together as a community, making connections and enjoying the beautiful summer weather.
