A Day in Oromocto with the Ignite Marketing Team

Yesterday, myself and two of my colleagues—Rey (Marketing and Communications Coordinator) and Hannahbelle (Economic Development Specialist)—headed out on an entity visit to the Town of Oromocto. Spoiler alert: it was an incredibly warm and welcoming day filled with local gems, great people, and a few sweet treats along the way.

We started our morning at the Oromocto Municipal Office, where we were met with big smiles and even bigger community spirit. The staff were kind, informative, and clearly passionate about the work they’re doing—something that’s always inspiring to see firsthand.

Of course, no great day begins without a solid caffeine fix, so we made our way to Sour Grape Café, a local favourite that instantly won us over. The coffee? Amazing. The baked goods? Even better. The atmosphere? Cozy, inviting, and the kind of place that makes you want to stay a little longer than planned (which we may or may not have done).

From there, we stopped by the Oromocto Galleria, a creative hub showcasing a wide range of local products and artisan goods. But it’s more than just a store—it also hosts craft workshops and community events, making it a true gathering space for creators and makers. If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind gift or something handmade with love, this spot should be on your list.

Next up was the Gateway Wetland Trail, a peaceful walking path that winds through nature with scenic views and plenty of opportunities to pause and appreciate the surroundings. We even spent some time trying to spot frogs near the water (Hannahbelle may have been the most dedicated frog-finder among us).

After getting our nature fix, we visited Roblynn Home Hardware, a locally owned business where the atmosphere was just as warm as the weather. The staff were incredibly friendly and clearly take pride in the store—it was great to see such strong community connection in action.

Then, it was off to the Oromocto & Area SPCA to drop off some donations and say hello to the furry residents. As an animal lover, this was definitely a highlight of the day for me. Meeting the passionate team behind the scenes, who work tirelessly to care for these animals and match them with loving homes, was heartwarming. And yes—I wanted to take them all home (but sadly, my car only fits so many).

To wrap up our day, we headed to Griffin’s Pub & Eatery, where we enjoyed a delicious meal, swapped our favourite moments, and reflected on just how much Oromocto has to offer. The food hit the spot, and the relaxed vibe made it the perfect place to wind down.

All in all, our visit to Oromocto was a refreshing reminder of the power of local—local people, local businesses, and local pride. Whether you're from the area or just passing through, there’s something here for everyone (and we highly recommend discovering it for yourself). Stay tuned for our upcoming Entity visits!
