A Day in Sunbury-York South with the Ignite Marketing Team

Last weekend Andrea, Ashleigh, and I spent the day in Sunbury-York South. Although the weather didn’t seem to be on our side that day, we weren’t going to let a little rain get in the way of discovering all the hidden gems that this region has to offer.

The first business visit actually took place the day before. I had heard some amazing things about Decadence Fine Baked Goods, a Nasonworth-based bakery that specializes in gluten-free goodies, but it looked like the business wasn’t going to be open the day of our visit. So when I spotted her sign at the Boyce Farmers Market, I knew I had to pick up some treats for the road.

With gluten-free French Almond Macaroons in hand, we headed to Rusagonis. We made a quick stop to admire the Patrick Owens covered bridge – New Brunswick’s only covered bridge that features a full-length window – and continued our drive to Uncle Pete’s Diner

Patrick Owens Covered Bridge

If you’re looking for a home-cooked breakfast, a cozy diner, and friendly faces, Uncle Pete’s is the place to be. We received such a warm welcome from everyone at the diner, including Uncle Pete himself. With lots of classic diner options, we filled up on fluffy eggs, bacon, sausage, and thick, buttered slices of homemade bread.

Our next stop was right around the corner at the Rusagonis Rec Center where we decided to check out their Sunday Market. We got to see some amazing artists and vendors including Jackie Jewels, Coffee it up, Coffey Coasters Plus, and many more. On the way out we took shelter from the heavy rain under a tent filled with an assortment of plants and flowers from Designs By Lukus.

We left Rusagonis with a trunk full of flowers and decided the only way to end a rainy-day adventure was to find some sun.

Sun’s Convenience & Gas Bar in Beaver Dam might not give off actual sunshine, but it brightened our day to see their selection of ice cream. Though they weren’t serving ice cream that day, we opted for a couple of pre-packaged ice cream cones to end our day on a sweet note.

We might not have had the best weather, but the friendly people and businesses in Sunbury-York South more than made up for the gloomy weather with their warmth and charm.
